Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Chicago, IL is seeking a detail-oriented Data Analyst with a finance background and hands-on experience working with utility invoices and large, complex datasets. This role supports utility & sustainability accuracy, cost optimization, and data-driven decision-making across utility spend and related sustainability initiatives. Experience with sustainability, energy management, or ESG reporting is preferred.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field
* 2+ years of experience in a data analyst, financial analyst, or similar role
* Demonstrated experience working with utility invoices and utility data
* Strong financial acumen, including cost analysis, variance analysis, and reconciliation
* Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, macros preferred)
* Experience with data analysis tools such as Smartsheet, Power BI, Tableau, or similar
* High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting sustainability, energy management, or ESG reporting initiatives
* Familiarity with utility tariffs, rate structures, and regulatory concepts
* Experience with utility or energy management software (e.g., invoice management or energy tracking platforms)
* Exposure to GHG accounting frameworks (e.g., Scope 1 & 2 emissions, utility-related Scope 3)
* Ability to translate complex data into clear, executive-ready insights
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
