Job description

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Quality Manager will oversee all quality within production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage all day-to-day Quality functions within the Company
  • Act as QC team management
  • Quality scheduling (Internal and external)
  • Lead Quality audits with AISC and state DOTs
  • Oversee material certifications and testing
  • Manage welding procedures and welder qualifications
  • Monitoring product and procedure deficiencies
  • Report to ownership on all company related Quality issues
  • Maintain and monitor the Quality Department's operating expense
  • Work with outside vendors on quality-related issues

REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTITUDES:
  • Proven track record in Quality/Process Improvement/Industrial Management.
  • Understanding of different codes AWS D1.1, AASHTO, AISC and ASTM specifications.
  • Understanding of NDE practices VT, MT, UT and RT.
  • Management Experience
  • Structural welding background
  • Strong Communication skills
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in Quality Control Management
  • Microsoft Office, Blueprint Reading, experience with welding practices (GMAW, SMAW and SAW)
  • Up to 5% travel as needed for training and vendor visits.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree, CWI (preferred). Level II or higher in UT, MT, or RT (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license
  • 5+ years of structural-steel fitting experience.
  • Certifications for Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magparticle Testing (MT) are required.

PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment, or materials 50 lbs. or less
  • Ability to withstand occasional bending, squatting, or crouching
  • Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) tools, equipment, or material
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, including cold, heat, and humidity
  • Adhere to all UMIC Safety Policies and Procedures
