Job description

Position Summary:

Weโ€™re representing a well-established, signatory union contractor with two distinct divisionsโ€”Heavy Civil and Mechanical Infrastructureโ€”that self-perform core scopes of work across the greater Southern California region. They are seeking a Project Manager with experience in civil site development, wet utilities, pump/lift stations, and flatwork/concrete execution.

This role offers the chance to lead high-impact public and private infrastructure projects ranging from athletic fields and parks to water infrastructure and mechanical systems. Youโ€™ll coordinate with in-house teams and trusted trade partners, while managing all phases of project deliveryโ€”estimating, scheduling, subcontractor management, and client relations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead full-cycle project management from preconstruction through closeout

  • Oversee subcontractor coordination, procurement, and construction administration

  • Manage budgets, cost tracking, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and scheduling

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with owners, agencies, inspectors, and design teams

  • Coordinate across in-house teams for flatwork, masonry, foundation, and structural concrete scopes

  • Collaborate with superintendents and field staff to ensure safe, high-quality delivery

  • Participate in bid strategy, estimating, and proposal development as needed

  • Ensure compliance with union labor standards and prevailing wage requirements

Project Types Include:

  • Civil Site Development โ€“ Parks, athletic fields, public infrastructure

  • Wet Utilities โ€“ Water, sewer, storm drain installations

  • Flatwork & Concrete โ€“ Sidewalks, pads, retaining walls, structure walls

  • Mechanical Infrastructure โ€“ Pump stations, lift stations, tanks, mechanical yards

  • Street Improvements โ€“ Curbs, gutters, R&R street work, landscaping

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience managing heavy civil or mechanical projects ($1Mโ€“$20M range ideal)

  • Strong background in either site development, wet utilities, or mechanical scopes

  • Experience working for a union contractor or managing public works/compliance is a plus

  • Comfortable overseeing multiple scopes (concrete, utilities, mechanical systems, etc.)

  • Prior hands-on experience in roles such as Estimator or Superintendent a plus

  • Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project preferred

  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team coordination skills

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)

  • Full medical, dental, and vision coverage

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • Company vehicle or allowance (if applicable)

  • PTO, sick time, and paid holidays

  • Long-term growth opportunities with a well-capitalized, growing firm
