Job description

Job Overview

DPR Construction is seeking a self‑perform Concrete Project Engineer with at least 1 year of commercial construction experience. The role focuses on self‑perform work within healthcare, advanced technology, higher education, life sciences, and commercial projects.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project team and self‑perform work group.
  • Maintain knowledge of owner contracts, subcontracts, and material vendor agreements.
  • Prepare and manage work scopes, cost structures, scope(s) schedule, weekly work plans, and lean construction implementation.
  • Document schedule impacts, identify changes, distribute change documents, and prepare change order estimates.
  • Attend owner/architect, subcontractor, staff, and other meetings; record minutes and follow up on action items.
  • Participate in bi‑weekly self‑perform team meetings; provide updates on project parameters.
  • Apply and maintain DPR’s environmental health and safety plan; conduct weekly safety audits.
  • Assist foremen and field crews with policy implementation and job execution; provide direction, prioritization, and performance feedback.
  • Assist Project Manager with labor, productivity, and cash flow reporting; update cost, commitment, and projection information in the job costing system.
  • Prepare monthly progress, fee, and cost status reports; prepare owner billing; review subcontractor invoices.
  • Manage labor cost reports, equipment and material coding logs, safety inspection logs; maintain RFI log and official notices.
  • Distribute drawings, changes, submittals, RFI responses; act as purchasing agent under direction; schedule material and equipment deliveries.
  • Schedule and expedite submittals, shop drawings, samples, and supplier data; manage concrete forms and wall frame detailing.
  • Assist in job layout, verify elevations and dimensions; review vendor shop drawings and product data for compliance.
  • Identify and resolve design issues, conflicts, and ambiguities; interface with designers, engineers, or owner; document solutions with RFIs.
Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience as a project engineer, preferably in DPR core market projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills; ability to resolve complex issues.
  • Strong teamwork and multitasking abilities; detail‑oriented.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software (CMiC or similar). On Screen Take Off and Quick Bid an advantage.
  • Strong work ethic and can‑do attitude.
