Apprentices work under the supervision of experienced journeymen while earning a wage and learning the necessary skills for their trade. These programs are sponsored by labor unions in partnership with employers, and typically last between 3 to 5 years, depending on the trade. Upon completion, apprentices become fully qualified journeymen with the opportunity for higher wages and career advancement.
