Software Engineering - Firmware Software Engineer IV
Location: Redmond, Washington (Onsite)
Compensation: $79- $89 hourly
Role Overview
This role involves applying principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of software and systems. The position focuses on designing, developing, and testing operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for a range of applications.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality code using C and C++ programming languages for embedded environments, ensuring portability across various processors and platforms.
  • Develop optimized firmware for Graphics and Display pipelines to support product use cases.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to improve and tailor existing firmware, device drivers, and applications to meet project needs.
  • Debug issues across the software stack, including hardware functionality, and develop workarounds for time-critical issues while providing long-term solutions.
  • Write new tests and maintain existing tests, including unit tests, manual tests, and CI automation.
Required Qualifications
Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a relevant field is required.
Experience: This position requires 8+ years of industry experience in developing and testing low-level firmware for embedded systems. Candidates must have 8+ years of programming experience using C and C++, including developing production code and test applications. A comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle is necessary, along with experience in RTOS and developing multi-threaded applications.
Technical Skills: Candidates should possess expert problem-solving skills for troubleshooting and system modifications. Experience with CI/CD development tools and processes is required. Scripting skills using Python or other languages for utility development and test automation are also needed.
