Job description

Guide Tomorrow's Leaders: Substitute Teacher Opportunities for the 2026–2027 School Year

Fork Union Military Academy is seeking qualified and dependable substitute teachers for the 2026–2027 school year. We are currently building a pool of both day-to-day and long-term substitute teachers who are passionate about supporting the academic growth and character development of young men in a Christian, military-style, college-preparatory environment serving grades 7–12.

Responsibilities

Substitute teachers play an important role in maintaining continuity in the classroom and supporting the Academy's mission. Responsibilities include:

· Maintaining a positive, productive, and orderly classroom environment.

· Implementing lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.

· Supervising cadets and upholding Academy expectations for conduct and professionalism.

· Communicating effectively with academic leadership and faculty members.

· Following all Academy policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

Successful candidates will demonstrate a commitment to education, mentorship, and student development. Preferred qualifications include:

· Bachelor's degree preferred (not required for all substitute positions).

· Prior teaching, tutoring, coaching, youth leadership, or classroom experience.

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

· Ability to work effectively with adolescent males in a structured educational environment.
