Must Have Skills - Sewer / Excavation Apprentice Laborer
  • Basic understanding of underground utilities, sewer lines, and excavation practices.
  • Ability to safely operate or assist with hand tools (shovels, picks, tampers, cutting tools).
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn trenching and shoring safety procedures.
  • Ability to support operation of small machinery (pipe lasers, compactors, trench boxes) under supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of pipe installation, connections, and grade checking (or willingness to learn).
  • Physical & Labor Skills
  • Ability to perform heavy physical labor: lifting 50-100 lbs, digging, backfilling, hauling materials.
  • Comfortable working in all weather conditions, confined spaces, and uneven terrain.
  • Strong stamina for long shifts and physically demanding tasks.
  • Safety & Compliance
  • Understanding of OSHA safety basics or willingness to complete training.
  • Ability to follow jobsite safety rules, PPE requirements, and supervisor instructions.
  • Awareness of underground utility hazards (locates, gas/electric safety).
  • Work Ethic & Reliability
  • Consistent attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Strong willingness to learn the trade and follow direction from lead technicians/excavators.
