Job description

Cable Underground Technician
Primary Work Location: Oxford, Connecticut Area
Zaloumis Contracting Service DBA Connect/One is a utility telecommunication company seeking to fill full-time positions for the Installation of underground utilities using various methods of excavation and placement. This Position includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Must be have experience working around equipment and power tools.
  • Must be flexible as job tasks change daily. Has to be capable of but not limited to the use of hand digging, operating a vibratory plow, missile and compressor, road saw, etc.
  • Experience with placement of blacktop and concrete preferred but not necessary.
  • Knowledge of proper traffic control set up.
  • Good drivers license with ability to tow and load trailers, (CDL a plus but not necessary)
  • Good communication skills & strong work ethic
  • Preferred candidate should be mechanically inclined and have knowledge of the utility construction industry.
  • Must have an understanding of Utility High Voltage systems, the associated Safety Procedures, and knowledgeable about electrical, grounding and underground codes.
  • Know how to properly weather proof and seal sub ducts.
  • Work safely at all times utilizing the necessary Personal Protection Equipment
  • Read and interpret utility maps / prints to identify the type and size of underground utilities.
  • Possess the ability to work safely in adverse weather conditions.
  • May be required to work overtime, weekends and late shifts as needed.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Valid State driver's license, including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Submit to a criminal background check
