Job description

Butterfly Staffing is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Foreman to lead a storm drain installation crew on a large civil infrastructure project expected to last approximately two years valued at approximately $10–12 million. This role is responsible for overseeing the daily installation of underground storm drainage systems, coordinating field crews, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project plans and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily underground storm drain construction activities.
  • Supervise pipe crews, equipment operators, and laborers.
  • Coordinate excavation, trenching, pipe installation, bedding, backfill, and compaction.
  • Install reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), HDPE pipe, catch basins, manholes, and drainage structures.
  • Read and interpret civil drawings, utility plans, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate daily work activities to maintain production and schedule.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with OSHA requirements.
  • Perform daily quality control inspections of completed work.
  • Coordinate with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to resolve field issues.
  • Maintain daily reports and communicate project progress.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience leading underground utility or storm drain crews.
  • Strong background in underground storm drain installation.
  • Experience with excavation, trenching, and underground pipe work.
  • Knowledge of reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), HDPE pipe, drainage structures, catch basins, and manholes.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil/site utility plans.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
