Job Details:
In addition to the requirements for the position, you must meet the following requirements to be considered for all positions in the University Unions:
  • Be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin or other college/university and be registered for at east six (6) credit hours.
  • In addition to the application packet, please submit a resume with all co-curricular involvement and work experience.
  • Must have availability to work nights and weekends, as determined in advance by the supervisor.

Position Overview
Stage managers will work closely with professional musicians, student groups, other campus organizations, and University Unions staff to successfully produce shows at the Cactus Café. For each event assigned, the Stage Manager will participate and lead production/tech meetings, assist in determining and coordinating the technical and staffing needs of the event, run tech rehearsals and shows, supervise staff, and generate performance reports. Ability to quickly and effectively communicate and translate important elements of policies and operations to performers.
Position is eligible for Workstudy.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attend production/tech meetings not limited to advancing shows via email communications.
  • Help assess client technical needs and assist in identifying staffing requirements for each event.
  • Run tech rehearsals and performances.
  • Supervise staff.
  • Communicate and coordinate with venue manager/house staff during performances.
  • Generate performance and production meeting reports.
  • Develop a strong working understanding of the Unions policies and enforce them.
  • No drinking of alcoholic beverages if over the age of 21 while on shift.
  • Take pictures and videos of performances and upload to Box for social media.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior stage management experience at the college level.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with live stage operations not limited to bands and presentations.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to people with little to no technical A/V background.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organization.
  • Problem solving ability and quick thinking.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate people working in a complex and fluid environment.
  • Commitment to excellence and professionalism, and a love for the performing arts.
  • Be a current student at The University of Texas at Austin.
