Job Description:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Urban Forestry Intern to join our team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience planting and caring for trees and plants. The paid 8-week internship offers weekly classroom time, hands-on tree and plant care, and certification in pesticide application.


Dates: August 31, 2026-October 22, 2026, Mondays- Thursdays 8:00 am- 3:30 p.m.

Pay: $18-20 an hour.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in tree care tasks, including planting, pruning, transplanting, and removing trees and plants, while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Help with landscape maintenance, including planting, watering, mulching, weeding, and fertilizing plant beds.
  • Learn to identify tree and plants, common tree and plant diseases, and assist in plant inventory and data management.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on the health of trees and plants, as well as overall landscape conditions.
  • Maintain and clean equipment and tools used in tree and plant care operations.


Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years old and live in Akron city limits
  • High School Diploma/GED or willing to obtain
  • Must be available during scheduled hours
  • A strong interest in trees, plants, and sustainable landscape management.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, climb, and perform manual labor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with common landscaping tools
