Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Location: Unalaska, Alaska (Relocation Required)

Compensation: $180,000 - $240,000 DOE + Comprehensive Benefits, Housing & Vehicle Provided

Lead the Future of Ounalashka Corporation

Ounalashka Corporation, an Alaska Native Village Corporation established under ANCSA, is seeking a dynamic and strategic Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help shape the future of the organization and its operating businesses. The COO will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, working closely with the CEO to drive operational excellence, support business growth, oversee the corporation's lands and leasing portfolio, and advance initiatives that create long-term value for shareholders and the Unalaska community.

This is a unique executive leadership opportunity for a results-oriented professional who combines strong business acumen, operational leadership, relationship‑building skills, and a passion for community impact.

What You'll Do
  • Partner with the CEO and leadership team to execute strategic objectives and drive organizational performance.
  • Provide executive oversight of the corporation's land, leasing, and asset management activities.
  • Lead operational planning, process improvement initiatives, and organizational performance management.
  • Support business development efforts, partnerships, and future growth opportunities.
  • Oversee capital projects, facilities planning, and long‑term asset strategies.
  • Champion technology modernization, operational efficiency, and innovation initiatives.
  • Develop and mentor leaders while promoting a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with shareholders, business partners, government agencies, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent the corporation in meetings, presentations, and public-facing engagements.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Public Administration, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • Seven or more years of progressive leadership experience with responsibility for operations, property management, business administration, project management, or related functions.
  • Significant experience in the leasing and management of real property in Alaska.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, managing budgets, and improving organizational performance.
  • Strong financial, analytical, communication, and decision‑making skills.
  • Ability to pass a background check and establish eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred
  • MBA or other advanced degree.
  • Experience working with Alaska Native Corporations, tribal organizations, municipalities, economic development organizations, or community‑based enterprises.
  • Experience overseeing land management, facilities, infrastructure, capital projects, and organizational growth initiatives.
  • Experience leading organizational change and technology modernization efforts.
