Job Description:
The Department of Nursing is has instituted a new program offering with the PhD in Nursing Education. The one grant funded progra coordinator positions will contribute to this process through teaching, research and guidance in the area of nursing education and will directly support the principle investigator (PI)-/ Department Chair. This role will share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, data tracking, reporting, and other functions for the good of the institution.
Responsibilities:
  • The Program Coordinator will lead the efforts for recruitment and retention of the PhD students.
  • Research and publications are expected for tenure and promotion.
  • Other areas of responsibility include support with curriculum development; participate in departmental and college-wide activities and committees, such as, grant writing, assessment, faculty development, mentoring student projects, and academic advisement.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master's of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) required. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing preferred.
  • Must hold a current or be eligible for an unencumbered license to practice nursing in Maryland, Washington, DC, or a compact state.
  • Strong preference will be given to candidates with didactic experience in the main area of teaching at the collegiate level.
  • A strong, demonstrated record of clinical expertise, experience with assessment and evaluation of student learning outcomes is required.
  • Expertise in nursing care throughout the lifespan is required.
  • :Experiences with nursing recruitment and retention.
  • Health requirements, CPR, background check required for clinical compliance, evenings.
  • Weekend activities are to be expected as a part of the work schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with total program evaluation and accreditation preferred.
  • Evidence of an active record of scholarship and service at the program, department and university levels preferred.

Conditions of Employment:
  • This position is funded in whole or in part through an external restricted funding source designated specifically for this project. Continued employment is contingent upon the availability of these funds and the continuation of the project's approved scope.
