Pay: $120k - $160k annually
Expiration Date of Job Posting: Continuous
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Electrical Engineering Manager leads and oversees all electrical design activities for custom power distribution and control equipment, combining technical expertise with strong team leadership to deliver high-quality, production-ready designs. This role manages a team of engineers and designers, owns project prioritization and workload distribution, and serves as the primary technical reviewer to ensure all deliverables meet UL, NEC, and NFPA standards. Working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management, the position ensures seamless design-to-production execution, maintains compliance and certification requirements, and drives continuous improvement in engineering processes, quality, and operational efficiency while effectively supporting customer deliverables and timelines.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • A registered Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly valued and considered a strong plus.
  • 5+ years of total experience in electrical design, with experience in PDC manufacturing, or modular industrial equipment environments a plus.
  • 2–3+ years of formal experience in a supervisory, lead engineer, or managerial capacity directing teams of electrical engineers and designers.
  • Hands-on design expertise with low voltage switchboards (UL 891), industrial control panels (UL 508A), and/or medium voltage switchgear. Proven capability performing load calculations and generating high-quality production drawing packages.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and UL certification requirements as applied to custom manufactured electrical equipment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver actionable feedback during design reviews and translate complex engineering challenges into priority actions for manufacturing and executive leadership.
  • Highly proficient with electrical EPLAN software (or AutoCAD Electrical).
  • Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) or SCADA control system integration in utility-scale power distribution networks a plus.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles or continuous improvement methodologies applied directly to engineering workflows preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license with good MVR required and willingness to occasionally travel if needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Directly manage relationships with customers to manage customer deliverables and deliveries.
  • Directly manage a dedicated team of Electrical Engineers and Designers. Conduct regular 1-on-1s, perform objective performance reviews, facilitate professional growth conversations, and foster a team culture centered on technical rigor, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Take full ownership of the electrical engineering workqueue. Allocate projects based on expertise, individual bandwidth, and production schedule priorities to ensure zero assembly bottlenecks and maintain accurate project status visibility.
  • Coordinate directly with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management to execute seamless design-to-production handoffs, proactively surfacing schedule risks before they become production constraints.
  • Serve as the primary technical reviewer for all electrical engineering deliverables, including schematics, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, wiring diagrams, load calculations, Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) analyses, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Oversee the electrical peer review process, ensuring that all drawing packages are checked, released, and delivered to the manufacturing floor in a fully production-ready state. Provide clear, decisive technical directions on design changes.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply strictly with UL 508A, UL 891, National Electrical Code (NEC), and NFPA 70E standards. Support the preparation of documentation and test records required to maintain UL certifications and successfully pass third-party inspections.
  • Implement and uphold Winn-Marion’s electrical design standards (including wiring methodologies, drawing conventions, and BOM structures). Champion data integrity within PDM and ERP systems to ensure all designs are properly revision-controlled.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineering on the shop floor to resolve design questions. Track recurring issues to drive root-cause improvements in drawing quality, component selection, value engineering, and build
