Job description

Job Overview:
R B Hinkle Construction Inc. is seeking a skilled and experienced UG Journeyman Lineman to join our team in Sterling, Virginia. This role involves the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of underground electrical power distribution systems.
Job Responsibilities-
  • Install, maintain, and repair underground electrical conductors, cables, and equipment such as transformers, switches, and other apparatus.
  • Work with various types of underground conduit, duct banks, and vaults.
  • Perform splicing and termination of underground cables.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment including trenchers, excavators, and cable pullers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems in underground systems.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs and outages.
  • Complete necessary paperwork and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Train and mentor apprentice linemen as required.

Job Qualifications-
  • Completion of a recognized Lineman apprenticeship program.
  • Valid Journeyman Lineman certification.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a Journeyman Lineman with a focus on underground systems.
  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory, principles, and safety practices.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and specialized lineman equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects and perform strenuous physical tasks.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
