Job description

Job Summary

The Quality/CI Director is responsible for overseeing the overall quality management system and lean management systems, including the continuous development, improvement & maturity, and supporting the forward vision & business objectives of the segment. This position will support with a dotted-line, 40+ plant locations, and will work under the general direction of the Regional VPs.

Location: This position can be located in either Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA at one of our local packaging plants in those areas.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversees the overall quality management systems of the business segments and their impact on our business & customers.

  • Oversees the overall continuous improvement program for the business segment through standardized practices, training, meeting improvement objectives, and continuing to mature our systems and capabilities.

  • Assist the plant locations in maintaining compliance with the quality management system to ISO9001 requirements and sustaining our certification status.

  • Assist quality & CI training to plant quality managers/coordinators as turnover occurs.

  • Drive standardization into our quality management & lean management systems, ensuring best & consistent practices.

  • Assist with new methodologies & technologies which impact quality & improvements (such as software & SCADA systems).

  • Support onboarding of new and strategic customers within PPAP processes.

  • Provide training & training material for the CI program & initiatives. Serve as coach & mentor for improvement projects.

  • Host regional CI progress meetings with each region to help support progress & best practices.

  • Take initiative on developing next steps & objectives to evolve & mature the effectiveness of our systems and provide necessary training.

  • Provide high level analysis from data/metrics of how effective our systems are and make recommendations and/or take action for improvement.

Qualifications

  • CQE (certified quality engineer) Certification Preferred or equivalent discipline body of knowledge.

  • Minimum of five years of experience in Quality manufacturing environment is required.

  • Working knowledge of ISO9001 QMS systems, and preferred understanding of IATF 16949 (formerly TS) & AIAG practices.

  • Working knowledge of Quality Science applications.

  • High-level understanding of lean concepts & applications.

  • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access. NOTE! Must be proficient with charts & statistical formulas/templates in Excel.

  • Manager-level leadership knowledge/experience.
