UEFN developers design, script, and optimize gameplay elements using tools like Blueprints and Verse scripting. These roles can include level design, asset creation, and game logic implementation. UEFN jobs are popular among game designers, 3D artists, and programmers looking to build in Fortnite's evolving ecosystem.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Uefn position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a UEFN (Unreal Editor for Fortnite) developer, you need strong skills in game design, 3D modeling, and scripting, typically supported by experience with Unreal Engine and related design tools. Proficiency with platforms like Unreal Engine 5, Verse scripting language, and digital content creation tools such as Blender or Photoshop is essential. Creative problem-solving, teamwork, and good communication are vital soft skills for collaborating with other developers and stakeholders. These skills are crucial for efficiently designing and deploying engaging Fortnite experiences that meet both creative and technical standards.

Whether it's building award-winning games or crafting engine technology that enables others to make visually stunning interactive experiences, we're always innovating.
Being Epic means being a part of a team that continually strives to do right by our community and users. We're constantly innovating to raise the bar of engine and game development.

You'll work on the systems every UE and UEFN developer relies on to build and ship games with Verse.
In this role, you will
  • Extend and evolve the Verse compiler toolchain and VM, implement new language features, integrate the toolchain into Unreal Engine's content, build, and cooking pipelines
  • Optimize performance, memory usage, and iteration times across the Verse toolchain and UE/Verse boundary
  • Establish test workflows to validate improvements and prevent regressions
  • Drive integration work in close collaboration with programmers from the Verse Language team and the broader Unreal Engine programming organization
What we're looking for
  • Excellent knowledge of C++17 or later
  • Experience in profiling and optimizing large codebases
  • Strong ability to reason about large, interconnected systems
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across programming teams
