Job description

Sonographer – Breast Imaging

Location: UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital, Main Hospital, Fort Collins, CO.

Department: PVH BDC.

Full‑time: 0.8 FTE, 64 hours per pay period (2 weeks).

Shift: Rotating.

Pay: $38.72 – $58.08 per hour (dependent on experience).

Minimum Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technologist program or Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program.
  • Registered as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Vascular Technologist (RVT), or Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or certified in Sonography (S) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). State licensure if required by law.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider; BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card on hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Provides top‑of‑scope practice in direct patient care, performing a variety of ultrasound procedures.
  • Reviews patient history and physician orders, performs patient scheduling, and educates patients regarding procedures, equipment, and examinations to ensure understanding and cooperation.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice when ordered.
  • Monitors patient condition continually, responds to changes in status, and selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment, troubleshooting and reporting equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patients and performs imaging procedures, analyzing results and identifying issues with imaging quality.
