Manufacturing Quality Engineer, General Assembly - EE/SW

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Software / Electrical Quality Engineer to join a growing team focused on delivering high-quality software and embedded systems across multiple platforms. This role plays a key part in ensuring product reliability by driving quality processes, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and improving testing and validation standards.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in software testing, business analysis, and Agile delivery, along with a proactive mindset and attention to detail. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys working across teams and time zones.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test suites for software and embedded systems
  • Perform functional, regression, UAT, and live environment testing
  • Identify, document, and track defects using tools like Jira; partner with development teams to resolve issues
  • Analyze system requirements and translate them into detailed QA documentation and protocols
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, product, design, manufacturing) to support product readiness
  • Support Agile practices and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Evaluate product performance post-release using analytics and user feedback
  • Maintain quality documentation (FSDs, PRDs, mock-ups, etc.)
  • Provide mentorship and onboarding support for new QA team members
  • Support risk management activities including FMEA development and control plans
  • Contribute to the definition and improvement of quality processes and technical standards
  • Assist with product testing events and validation activities
  • Provide day-to-day quality support to technical and operational teams
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent combination of advanced degree and experience)
  • Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and SDLC practices
  • Hands-on experience with QA and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, YouTrack)
  • Experience in cross-platform software and/or embedded systems testing
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Preferred:
  • ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation Level)
  • PRINCE2® Foundation or Practitioner certification
