POSITION: Clerk Typist, Main Office,ย Pell Elementary School
GENERAL DUTIES: To assist in the smooth and efficient operation of the office so that positive impact on the education of students can be realized.
REPORTS TO: Principal, and/or designee
Qualifications:
1.Graduation from high school or high school equivalency, including or supplemented by secretarial and/or business training.
2. Ability to key at a net corrected speed of 35 words per minute (40 words preferred). Test is mandatory.
3. Ability to maintain computerized records as required.
4. Ability to efficiently use computerized software to include word and excel processing, spreadsheets, database, e-mail, and Internet, etc. and student information systems (ASPEN). Must be familiar with AESOP/Frontline attendance. (must take test to demonstrate knowledge and competency in these qualifications).
5. Possession of excellent organizational skills.
6. Ability to communicate well with administrators, staff, parents, teachers, and students, and maintain professionalism at all times to create a welcoming office environment.
7. Demonstrated ability to perform the responsibilities below as evidenced by course work, previous experience, and the interview process.
8. Any such alternative qualifications as the committee may deem appropriate if the above cannot be met.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Performs the usual office routines and practices associated with a busy, yet productive, and smoothly run office, primarily, but not limited to acting as receptionist for main office (switchboard and front door monitor/entry system).
2. Maintains sensitive records and information with complete confidentiality.
3. Assists in the preparation of reports, letters, notices and other miscellaneous items as assigned by the principal and/or designee.
4. Conducts communication, filing, copying, faxing, as well as all other clerical duties needed.
5. Utilizes computer applications software in the performance of daily tasks.
6. Covers for secretaries on a daily basis for lunch breaks.
7. Covers for secretaries in their absence as needed.
8. Performs all other such clerical duties as the principal, and/or designee may deem

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Walking, stooping, reaching, talking, lifting (10-pound minimum), hearing, standing, kneeling, carrying, keyboarding, seeing, sitting.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Inside, work with and around others, work alone.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Full time, twelve months. Salary and benefits in accordance with Support Staff contract. Pay Grade 7, 35 hours/week, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with ยฝ-hour non-paid lunch break.
