Description Positions in this class assist police staff with a wide range of tasks that are crucial to the department's daily operations. This is a volunteer position and does not offer any compensation. Volunteers are integral to the operations of the Apache Junction Police Department, providing essential support across various functions.

These volunteer opportunities allow community members to assist police personnel with routine tasks, improving efficiency and contributing to the department's overall mission. Volunteers can be assigned to different divisions based on the department's needs, offering a flexible and rewarding experience. Essential Duties General Clerical Support Volunteers in general clerical roles assist police staff with a wide range of tasks that are crucial to the department's daily operations.

Responsibilities may include: Filing documents Typing reports Data entry and retrieval Other routine duties Volunteers in this role may be placed in any division where their skills are needed. Property & Evidence Unit In the Property & Evidence (P&E) Unit, Volunteers support the function of P&E. Responsibilities include: Filing and scanning documents Assisting with the inventory process Handling items that may be hazardous or unpleasant due to their origin at crime scenes Requirements for this role include: Ability to lift 30-50 pounds Proficiency in reading sequential numbering systems Records Unit Volunteers in the Records Unit work alongside staff during regular business hours (Monday through Thursday, 8 AM to 5 PM).

This role involves performing various clerical duties such as: Typing and filing documents Assisting with data entry and retrieval Requirements in this unit must: Be proficient with office equipment Follow oral and written instructions accurately Possess strong communication skills, both oral and written Contact: Lieutenant Saldana, 480-474-2629, dsaldana@apachejunctionaz.gov Commitment: A minimum of one year of service is required, with a commitment of at least 16 hours per month. Exceptions for fewer hours may be considered based on department needs and the volunteer's residency status. Days of Work Week: Monday through Thursday Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Minimum Qualifications To participate in these volunteer opportunities, individuals must meet the following criteria: Age: Must be 18 years or older

Background Check: Volunteers must pass a thorough background investigation, fingerprint clearance, and oral board interviews.
