License: Michigan Nursing License (Pending Applications Accepted)

Must-Have:
- Ability to manage patient care in a critical care environment.
- Experience with cardiac monitoring and emergency response.
- IV therapy proficiency including arterial line management and blood product administration.
Description:
OFFERING UP TO 26 WEEKS - please indicate preference upon submittal.
Holidays are required.
No request for time off (RTO) in the first two weeks of assignment.
All RTO must be presented prior to offer.
If RTO is received after offer, it must be discussed with on-site manager.
Pending Michigan license applications are acceptable.
Need to provide a concrete estimated time of arrival at submission and proof of application.
Patient Ratios are 1:1-4.
Our ICU has a mix of PCU and ICU patients.
PCU and general medicine/transfer status can be assigned a 4:1 group based on acuity.
PCU can also be assigned a 4:3:1 based on acuity.
ICU and PCU can mix patients at 3:1 based on acuity.
Vent Patients are assigned at 2:1.
Cooling, CRRT, or high acuity patients will be in a 1:1 group.
Weekend Requirement is to work every other weekend.
Float Requirement involves floating to other ICU and Med-Surg units as needed.
Agency registered nurses will float in rotation with general staff to Med-Surg units.
Typical nurse to patient ratios are approximately 1:5-7 in the Med-Surg settings.
Patient Diagnoses include: COPD, Encephalopathy, Drug Overdose, DKA, AKI, Respiratory Failure, Cardiac Arrest, Heart Failure, A-fib.
Special Procedures/Unit Details involve: CRRT, HD, A-Line placement, CVC Placement, Trach placement, Chest tube placement.
Special Equipment includes: Cooling Machine, Bair Huggers, and CRRT.
Required Skills encompass:
- Cardiac Monitoring and Emergency response, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and multi-system organ failure.
- Endocrine/Metabolic, including IV insulin protocols.
- Gastrointestinal management of GI surgery.
- Genitourinary/Renal management of chronic/acute renal failure and CVVHD/CRRT.
- IV Therapy, including arterial line management, blood product administration, and central/PICC line management.
- Medication management, including continuous IV sedation and emergency medications.
- Neurological care, focusing on CVA/acute stroke management.
- Respiratory support, including ventilated patient care, ABG interpretation, and suctioning.
Our unit manages an average of 3 ventilated patients daily.
ICU physicians may retain a patient in ICU care based on clinical judgment.
Modified staffing ratios can be maintained based on patient acuity.
