Job description

General Purpose Performs a variety of tasks to support warehouse operations, fleet maintenance, and water system maintenance in the Transmission Distribution & Engineering Divisions. Receives and distributes materials and supplies. Assists Fleet Maintenance Department with pick-up, delivery, and inventory of Shop parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs a variety of tasks to assist the Stocker, including distribution of materials and parts to Pueblo Water employees and contractors; maintenance of related computerized records, generates requisitions for items ordered. Performs flushing of water mains, fire hydrants, service lines, and appurtenances as assigned. Accompanies the Scrap Dealer to the Scrap Yard as necessary to verify empty weight on scrap containers and to sign weight slips verifying weight of loaded scrap.

Receives and examines materials and parts to ensure compliance with Pueblo Water's specifications and reports discrepancies to the Stocker. Stores materials in appropriate location within warehouse. Cleans and/or repairs materials and parts that are returned to the stockroom.

Loads and unloads materials and parts on trucks and trailers for Pueblo Water employees and contractors. Operates different sizes of forklifts to perform this function. Assists in maintaining warehouse facilities and equipment to ensure a clean, safe work environment.

Assists Meter Services by wiring, sealing, and reading meters in warehouse stock as required. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Operates Pueblo Water vehicle as necessary. May be required to deliver materials and parts to field locations.

Assumes all functions of Stocker as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned. Employee is held accountable for all duties of this position.

Employee ensures that all duties and responsibilities are performed in a safe manner. Education, Training and Experience High School diploma or GED equivalent. Colorado Class "R" driver's license.

Colorado Class 1 Water Distribution Operator certification, or ability to obtain the certification within one (1) year immediately following the date of entry into the position. Must successfully complete continuing education/training unit courses required to maintain certification. One year related work experience Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

OSHA approved Forklift Operator Training Certificate, or the ability to obtain within the probationary period. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to operate various sizes of forklifts. Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools.

Basic math and reading skills. Moderate interpersonal skills are required to exchange general information and interact informally with co-workers and supervisors. Basic knowledge of Pueblo Water's distribution system operations.

Ability to use two-way radio. Basic knowledge of computers and ability to operate software programs for data entry and retrieval and inventory system. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and base maps.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: A variety of warehouse tools and equipment. Standard office materials and equipment. Two-way radio and paging system.
