Provides evaluation, treatment, and management of acute and chronic phases of illness in patients at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center; management includes assessment of physical symptoms, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and prescribing medications. Provides continued care throughout the patient's medical journey. Educates and mentors Advanced Practice Provider I and additional clinical staff, including nursing, residents, fellows, and other healthcare interns and students.
This posting is intended as an interest posting to identify qualified Advanced Practice Providers for potential temporary opportunities across the organization. Applicants are encouraged to indicate the clinical area(s) or specialty(ies) in which they are most interested. Applications will be reviewed and retained for future consideration, and candidates will be contacted as opportunities aligned with their interests and experience become available; as a result, outreach timing may vary. Characteristic of the position is the short, unscheduled notice associated with reporting for duty, the variable nature of the hours worked per payroll period, the temporary nature of appointments to this title, and the fact that this is a non-benefit earning title.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
Nurse Practitioner Educational Path:
1. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York; and
2. Current New York State Nurse Practitioner certification; and
3. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA); and
4. Master's or higher-level degree in Nursing.
NOTE:
As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center or other national certifying body recognized by Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) within nine (9) months of their appointment to this title as required by Medicare.
OR
Physician Assistant Educational Path:
1. License to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of New York; and
2. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission for Certification of Physicians Assistants (NCCPA) or other national certifying body recognized by the New York State Education Department; and
3. Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Physician Assistant Studies; or
4. Bachelor's or higher-level degree and completion of a Physician Assistant Certificate Program recognized by the New York State Education Department.
AND
The equivalent of two (2) years of full-time progressively responsible Advanced Practice Provider experience in a service line at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center or at a cancer care or acute care facility recognized as comparable by Roswell Park.
NOTE:
1. As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain and maintain certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
2. Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
