What are two days week jobs?

'Two Days Week' jobs refer to positions where employees are scheduled to work only two days per week, rather than the traditional five-day workweek. These roles are often part-time and can be found in industries like retail, hospitality, healthcare, education, and more. Such jobs are ideal for individuals seeking flexibility, work-life balance, or those needing to supplement their income without committing to a full-time schedule. Employers may offer these roles to cover peak business periods or to accommodate employees with other commitments.

What are the typical expectations and challenges when working a two days per week schedule?

Working a two-days-per-week schedule often means you'll need to be highly organized and efficient, as your time on-site is limited. It's important to communicate proactively with your team and supervisor to prioritize essential tasks and ensure continuity between your workdays. One challenge can be staying up to date with ongoing projects and team communications, but many employers support this through digital tools and clear documentation. This arrangement can offer a good work-life balance, especially for those with other commitments, but requires strong self-management skills to maximize productivity during your limited hours.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a part-time role working two days a week, and why are they important?

To thrive in a part-time role working two days a week, you need solid time management, reliability, and the core competencies specific to the job, alongside any required education or experience. Familiarity with scheduling systems and any job-specific software or technical tools is often necessary. Strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to quickly integrate into a team or workflow are valuable soft skills. These qualities ensure you can contribute effectively within limited hours and maintain productivity and team cohesion.

Job description

Line Cook – Flexible Schedule | 2 Days/W

Looking for a flexible kitchen job in Waikiki? Come join our team at Genius Lounge!

Genius Lounge is a Japanese-owned restaurant and sake bar located in the heart of Waikiki. We serve creative Hawaiian-Japanese fusion cuisine developed by an experienced Japanese chef.

We are currently looking for a Line Cook to join our small, friendly kitchen team.

Whether you already have kitchen experience or are looking to build your cooking skills, we'd love to hear from you. Students and part-time applicants are welcome!

Why Work With Us?
  • $20–$25/hour after probation, based on experience and skills
  • Only 2 days/week minimum
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Starting at 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM
  • Need to start later or leave earlier? Let's talk!
  • Free employee meal during your shift
  • 20% employee discount
  • Learn Hawaiian-Japanese fusion cooking
  • Small, friendly team environment
  • Great opportunity to gain hands-on restaurant experience in Waikiki
Schedule

We are open Sunday through Saturday.

Typical kitchen shifts start at 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM and usually finish between 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM, depending on business volume.

On busy weekends, shifts may occasionally run until around 12:00 AM.

Can't start at 4:00 PM because of school or another job? Need to finish before 10:00 PM? Let us know your availability. We are happy to discuss a schedule that works for both of us.

What You'll Do

Our kitchen is small and we believe strongly in teamwork.

Instead of separating every task by position, our kitchen team works together and shares responsibilities to keep everything running smoothly.

Your duties may include:

  • Food preparation
  • Line cooking and plating
  • Preparing ingredients
  • Cleaning and maintaining your work area
  • Kitchen closing duties
  • Dishwashing
  • Helping other team members as needed

Everyone in our kitchen—including our Line Cooks—helps with dishwashing and cleaning. There is no "that's not my job" attitude here. We help each other and work together as one team.

If you're hardworking, dependable, and willing to jump in wherever help is needed, you'll fit in well with us.

What We're Looking For

Previous restaurant or kitchen experience is preferred, but we're also willing to consider someone with less experience who has a great attitude and genuinely wants to learn.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is:

  • Reliable and punctual
  • A team player
  • Willing to learn
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Willing to help with all kitchen duties
  • Available at least 2 days per week
  • Weekend availability is a plus
Pay

$20–$25/hour, depending on experience and skills.

Probationary Period:
The first 20 working days are a probationary/training period at $17/hour.

Apply today and tell us a little about yourself and your availability.
