Job description

WBAL-TV 11, Baltimore's #1 station and a Hearst-owned NBC affiliate, is seeking an innovative and dynamic Commercial/Promo Writer Producer to join our team. The ideal candidate will produce and execute commercial projects from concept through completion, ensuring the highest quality standards while delivering on time and within budget. Studio 11 is a leading local creative agency dedicated to crafting impactful, multi-platform advertising for a diverse range of clients, with a strong passion for storytelling and compelling visuals. This individual is an extension of our award-winning Creative Services department and in this role will also collaborate to develop messaging for our market-leading news and weather brands, as well as community outreach initiatives. Salary range for this position is $50k to $55k. 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with clients and creative teams to develop project concepts, storyboards, and scripts.

  • Execute commercial productions from pre-production through post-production, including production meetings and coordination of field shoot logistics with internal teams and stakeholders.

  • Develop, write, and edit innovative creative content that strengthens brand identity, increases awareness, and drives engagement and action across all platforms.

  • Maintain clear communication with account executives by sharing production schedules, managing assets, and identifying future production needs.

  • Conceptualize, write, and edit compelling on-air and digital promotional content, including station image campaigns, proof-of-impact creative, social media promotions, and community engagement projects.

  • Ensure quality control standards are met and that all deliverables adhere to technical and brand specifications.

  • Support promotional events and station marketing initiatives as needed, along with other assigned responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of paid experience in television or commercial production preferred.
  • Proven expertise in crafting and implementing brand messaging effectively across diverse media platforms.
  • Exceptional writing skills to deliver compelling messaging, ensuring differentiation from competitors and viewer benefit.
  • Strong grasp of design fundamentals, with a keen eye for coloring, typography, and composition.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Canva, and emerging AI programs.
  • Strong project management and client service skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects, adapt to varying production styles, and see work through from concept to client approval.
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality work quickly and accurately, with exceptional attention to detail under tight deadlines.
  • Collaborative team player with a passion for the creative process and effective cross-functional communication.
  • Requires the ability to routinely lift equipment exceeding 30+ lbs.
  • Valid driver's license (hire is contingent on good driving record).
  • Equivalent military training from Defense information School (DINFOS) and related military experience will be considered
