Job Summary

The Tutoring Coordinator provides support to the area of Student Success & Retention. The Coordinator will primarily assist with managing BCTC's Learning Supports, including Tutoring Services, Writing Center, Tutors, and Student Workers across 7 campuses and online. The Coordinator will assist the Director of Student Success/Tutoring with the hiring, training, and supervision of tutors and support the promotion of BCTC Tutoring services across the institution. The Tutoring Coordinator reports to the Director of Student Success/Tutoring.

Job Duties:

  • Co-supervise, with the Director of Student Success/Tutoring, BCTC Learning Support Tutors, including recruitment and training, across all campuses, including prisons, online, and institutional partners.
  • Assists the Director of Student Success/Tutoring with management of all tutoring spaces, schedules, equipment, supplies, and operational structures, across all campuses.
  • Assists with management, promotion, training, and data entry and collection related to Spotlight Instruction Series, including working directly with faculty and staff across the institution.
  • Assists with maintaining tutoring data collection and managing the online tutoring platform (Penji).
  • Monitors and responds to student, faculty, staff inquiries, requests for assistance, and referrals through the Tutoring Email and Early Alert/Starfish.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops and presentations to promote services and best practices related to Tutoring and Success & Retention activities for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Assists Director of Student Success/Tutoring with evaluation and continued improvement of BCTC Learning Supports and development of new protocols or initiatives to best meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff.
  • Support promotion and marketing of BCTC Learning Supports and Success & Retention activities during college resource fairs, student events, and other area-related activities (i.e. tabling).
  • Actively supports the mission of a comprehensive community and technical college and completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards and policies.
  • Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree and two (2) years related experience
     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, communications, or community leadership
  • At least two years of experience in teaching, student support services, or tutoring.
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn new software are strongly desired.
  • Experience supervising student employees strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current and promising practices for student learning, development, and retention
