Job Title: Turret Operator

Job Description

This role focuses on operating turret and related fabrication equipment to produce customized electrical enclosure boxes and other metal box products. You will work with sheet metal, using a variety of machines and hand tools to bend, punch, drill, and form components according to blueprints and production specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate turret press, laser, brake press, punch press, shear, and other sheet metal fabrication equipment to produce customized electrical enclosure boxes and metal boxes.
  • Use a brake press (including Euromac and newer model Armada presses) to bend and form metal components according to job specifications.
  • Perform turret and laser operations to punch, cut, and shape sheet metal accurately and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication requirements for each job.
  • Measure materials and finished parts using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools to verify accuracy and quality.
  • Operate drill presses and hand tools to punch, drill, and finish metal parts as required.
  • Handle sheet metal and finished parts safely, including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, while maintaining a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with basic machine setup and adjustments as needed and remain open to learning changeovers and more advanced machine setup tasks.
  • Monitor production equipment during operation, identify issues, and report or assist in resolving basic mechanical or quality problems.
  • Follow production schedules and instructions to meet daily output goals while maintaining quality and safety standards.
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of parts and components to ensure they meet blueprint and specification requirements.
  • Support general production activities, including material handling, staging parts, and assisting team members in the fabrication area.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a turret or laser operator in a production or sheet metal fabrication environment.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with brake press, punch press, laser, or turret operation.
  • Hands-on experience operating a brake press; operation only is required, setup experience is not mandatory.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure and calipers for precise measurements.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Experience working with sheet metal fabrication processes and production equipment.
  • Comfort operating punch presses, brake presses, drill presses, and related fabrication machinery.
  • Basic machine operation skills with a strong willingness to learn additional machine functions and changeovers.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in a production environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience operating Euromac and newer model Armada brake presses.
  • Experience with shear presses and laser operation in a sheet metal environment.
  • Blueprint reading and blueprint interpretation skills beyond basic level.
  • Experience using micrometers and additional inspection tools for dimensional checks.
  • Experience in sheet metal fabrication and production, including handling customized electrical enclosure boxes and metal boxes.
  • Familiarity with machine setup for turret, laser, and brake press operations, or an interest in learning setup and changeover tasks.
  • General mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production equipment and hand tools.
  • Experience working in a high-output production environment with a focus on quality and efficiency.

The environment is a busy production floor with sheet metal fabrication equipment such as turret presses, lasers, brake presses, punch presses, shears, drill presses, and various hand tools. The role involves regular standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs while working around active machinery and production equipment. Appropriate work attire suitable for a fabrication and production environment is required to ensure safety and comfort.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
