Job description

Divan Berkeley is an authentic Mediterranean and Turkish restaurant in Berkeley, CA. We are looking for a talented and experienced Sous Chef to help lead our kitchen and ensure every dish meets our high standards.

About the Role

As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to manage daily kitchen operations. You will lead the line during service, oversee ordering and inventory, and help maintain the quality and consistency that our guests expect.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the line during service, ensuring smooth and efficient execution
  • Supervise and support line cooks, providing direction and maintaining standards
  • Manage food ordering, inventory, and receiving to control costs and minimize waste
  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and health code standards at all times
  • Step in for the Head Chef when needed

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a senior kitchen leadership role
  • Familiarity with Mediterranean or Middle Eastern cuisine is a strong plus but not required
  • Experience with ordering, inventory management
  • Food Safety Manager certification (or willingness to obtain)
