What does a turkey cleaner do?

A Turkey Cleaner is responsible for cleaning and preparing turkeys, usually in a processing facility or poultry plant. Their duties include removing feathers, washing the birds, and ensuring they are properly sanitized before packaging or further processing. This role is crucial for maintaining food safety standards and preparing turkeys for retail or food service. Turkey Cleaners often work with specialized equipment and must follow strict hygiene protocols to prevent contamination.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a turkey cleaner?

To thrive as a Turkey Cleaner, you need knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitation procedures, attention to detail, and the ability to handle poultry safely, often gained through on-the-job training or experience in food processing environments. Familiarity with food safety standards, use of cleaning chemicals, and sometimes equipment like high-pressure washers is important. Reliability, stamina, and good communication help individuals excel in this physically demanding role and work well within a team. These skills ensure compliance with health regulations, maintain product quality, and support efficient operations in food processing facilities.

What are some common challenges faced by turkey cleaners during peak holiday seasons?

During peak holiday seasons, Turkey Cleaners often experience a significant increase in workload due to higher demand from processors and retailers. This can lead to longer hours, fast-paced work environments, and the need for careful attention to food safety standards despite the pressure. Additionally, maintaining consistency in cleanliness and quality can be challenging when handling large volumes. Effective teamwork and clear communication with supervisors and colleagues are crucial during these busy periods to ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

This is not a backup role.

This is not a steppingstone.

This is center stage in the world of Texas-style barbecue.

At Little Miss BBQ, the Cutter is where craft meets performance. You're not just slicing meat; you're carving out moments guests will remember forever. You are the final stop before the meat hits the table. The one who sets the tone. The one who leads by example. The one who turns world-class BBQ into world-class experiences.

If you know meat, love people, and thrive under pressure, we want you behind the block.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Serve guests with confidence, personality, and hospitality that's unforgettable
  • Make real-time decisions on portioning, quality, and flow
  • Communicate with the pit, FOH, and kitchen to keep service tight
  • Lead from the front: mentor, guide, and set the tone for the shift
  • Keep your station clean, stocked, and ready for long lines of hungry people
  • Be the best part of someone's day.

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Deep understanding of Central Texas BBQ (this is non-negotiable). We can teach the right person.
  • Solid knife skills being quick, clean, safe, and consistent
  • Charismatic and confident in front of guests, you love talking BBQ
  • Calm under pressure because fast lines don't phase you
  • Strong communicator and natural leader. People follow your energy
  • Obsessed with quality, consistency, and guest satisfaction
  • Full-time availability, including weekends and evenings

This job is not for the faint of heart. It's busy, it's demanding, and the expectations are high. But if you're the kind of person who lives for that and wants to be world class at something... welcome home!

  • Health, Dental, Vision, and Disability Insurance

  • Ongoing training and leadership development
  • A team that's focused, fun, and fiercely proud of what we do
