Job description


Job Summary:

As a Café Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our café. Your responsibilities will include assisting the café manager with various tasks related to food service, customer interactions, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment. This position is part-time, with shifts primarily scheduled Friday - Sunday during our baseball and softball tournaments.

Responsibilities:
  1. Food Preparation:
    • Assist in food preparation, including handling ingredients, assembling sandwiches, salads, and other menu items.
    • Ensure that all food items are prepared according to quality and safety standards.
    • Collaborate with the cafe manager to maintain consistency in food quality.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
    • Take customer orders accurately and efficiently.
    • Answer any customer inquiries regarding menu items, ingredients, and special requests.
    • Provide excellent customer service throughout their dining experience.
  3. POS System and Purchases:
    • Process customer purchases using our Point of Sale (POS) system.
    • Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
    • Maintain a tidy and organized cash register area.
  4. Cleaning and Restocking:
    • Keep the cafe area clean and presentable.
    • Clear tables, wash dishes, and sanitize dining areas.
    • Restock supplies such as napkins, utensils, and condiments.
    • Assist with maintaining inventory levels.
  5. Additional Duties:
    • Work collaboratively with other cafe staff under the direction of the cafe manager.
    • Organize work schedules and shifts as needed.
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
    • No heavy cooking involved, but experience with a turbo-chef is preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in food service, hospitality, or customer-facing roles is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with operating a turbo-chef or similar equipment is a plus.
