Tuition remission is an employee benefit offered by many colleges, universities, and some employers where all or part of an employee’s tuition costs are waived or paid for by the institution. This benefit may extend to employees, their spouses, and dependent children, allowing them to take courses or pursue degrees at reduced or no cost. Each institution or employer sets its own policies regarding eligibility, coverage, and any restrictions, such as program exclusions or grade requirements. Tuition remission can be a valuable way to further education and career development without incurring significant debt.
