Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description

This role supports a specialized manufacturer of oil field pipe couplings by ensuring that CNC machines and related production equipment operate safely, reliably, and efficiently. The maintenance mechanic performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Doosan Puma CNC machines, as well as saws and stampers used to produce threaded tubulars and connection hardware tailored to American Petroleum Institute (API) specifications for the energy sector.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on Doosan Puma CNC machines to maximize uptime and extend equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control issues on CNC machines and identify root causes of equipment failures.
  • Repair CNC machines, saws, and stampers promptly to minimize production interruptions.
  • Inspect and maintain industrial equipment and production machinery used in the manufacture of threaded tubulars and specialized connection hardware.
  • Use strong mechanical aptitude to diagnose complex equipment problems and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Maintain and organize personal tools to ensure readiness for repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Follow established maintenance procedures and safety practices while working on industrial machinery.
  • Collaborate with production personnel to schedule maintenance and repairs with minimal impact on operations.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used to support ongoing equipment reliability.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by recommending maintenance process enhancements and equipment upgrades where appropriate.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of CNC maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing CNC machines, specifically Doosan Puma or similar equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform preventative maintenance on CNC machines and other industrial equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and repairing industrial saws and stampers.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently to support continuous production.
  • Must provide and use own tools for daily maintenance and repair work.
  • Experience working in environments involving oil field pipe, tubular products, or similar heavy industrial manufacturing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in CNC maintenance at pipe or machine works facilities is highly beneficial.
  • Experience in industrial settings similar to Texas Pipe Works, Lincoln Manufacturing, Amtex Machine Products, or Pinnacle Machine Works is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes for threaded tubulars and specialized connection hardware tailored to API specifications.
  • Comfort working around hydraulic and pneumatic systems and understanding of their operation in industrial machinery.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively in a production environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and workplace safety.
Why Work Here?

You will join a well-established manufacturer with a strong presence in its market and a stable, consistent workload. The operation offers regular 10-hour workdays that provide predictable scheduling and income potential. Many team members have been with the company for over a decade, reflecting a supportive environment where employees choose to build long-term careers. The culture values reliability, craftsmanship, and teamwork, creating a setting where skilled tradespeople can grow, contribute, and take pride in their work.

Work Environment

The role is based in a non-climate-controlled industrial facility focused on manufacturing oil field pipe couplings. While a small pipe yard is located outdoors, most maintenance work is performed indoors on CNC machines, saws, and stampers. The environment is typical of a heavy industrial setting, with active production equipment and materials handling. Employees should be comfortable working in varying temperatures and around industrial machinery, wearing appropriate work attire and safety gear suitable for a shop and pipe yard environment.
