JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Counter Sales Lead the Counter Sales team assists customers with their purchases of door and gate automation products. This position is the first point of contact at each of our branches and provides customers with accurate and timely information regarding product availability, pricing and delivery. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a high level of product knowledge, attend product knowledge meetings, and work and interact with all employees, customers and vendors in a way that models and supports Multi Sales Values.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as a key face-to-face contact and liaison for customers and generate sales while providing quick, accurate, courteous service.

  • Sales of merchandise, utilizing product and applications knowledge to select material that best meets customer needs
  • Align with company promotion goals and promote effectively to customers
  • Update knowledge of products through online self-study, vendor websites and attending product training classes
  • Acknowledge and utilize order queues within ERP system to improve customer service levels.
  • Handle customer inquiries and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Pick and consolidate orders
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail ensuring orders are entered and picked according to customer requirements
  • Place, arrange, and maintain merchandise display. Recommend new stock items and support efforts to reduce or eliminate overstock and/or obsolete material
  • Handling of normal stock will include lifting or carrying parts in excess of 50 lbs. up to 5% of the time. Majority of lifting and carrying will involve parts between 5 and 50 lbs.
  • Maintain assigned work areas and organize and restock when needed.
  • Locate and obtain ordered part for customers from warehouse or branch.
  • Determine sales price for customers for each sale in accordance with company procedure.
  • Handle warranty or defective parts for customers in accordance with company procedure.
  • Enter and process customer orders, quotes, returns and follow all SOPs.
  • Special order parts when necessary and appropriate.
  • Process approved credits for customer when merchandise is returned.
  • Maintain confidentiality of pricing lists and structures as required by company procedure.
  • Answer customersโ€™ questions about products, prices, availability, and product features.
  • Take ownership of branch, addressing any issues (cleanliness, stock, product labeling, etc.) regardless of whether it is your assigned area.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • GED, High School Diploma OR
  • At least three yearsโ€™ experience selling in an industrial counter sales environment or of related experience required.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Effectively and courteously handle any customer problems or complaints.
  • Remain aware of new products and product specifications to assist customers to determine product and job application fit.
  • Collaborate and work with other departments as needed to address customer issues.
  • Be a self-starter. Clearly understanding the needs of the branch concerning cleanliness, inventory, and stocking should leave little time down.
  • Great customer service and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to process point-of-sale transactions, quotes, and returns
  • Experience with an inside sales environment
  • Strong computer skills required, Microsoft applications and ERP systems
  • Proficient in the English language, bilingual skills are beneficial
  • Previous warehouse experience
  • Demonstrated job stability
  • Valid driverโ€™s license
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Lifting / Carrying: Ability to lift or move items ranging from up to 50 pounds.
  • Mobility: Significant walking, standing, and climbing
  • Physical Agility: Occasional crouching, kneeling, stooping, crawling, or bending to access client sites or handle equipment.
  • Frequently utilization of fine finger dexterity for digital systems and equipment inspections.
  • Sensory Requirements: High level of verbal communication (talking/hearing) and clear close/distance vision for driving and presentations.
  • Environmental Adaptability: Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments, including warehouses, or outside. Varied Temperature changes, minimal chemical hazards, Vibration, dust and vehicle noise.
