Job description

Production Supervisor -GPS 2nd Shift
Job Summary:

In a fast paced manufacturing environment, the supervisor is an integral part of the manufacturing process. They must be competent and comprehend complex operations. Supervisors should also be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.  At the division level, responsible for machining, fabricating, welding, assembling or for the processing operations required in the production of the finished product, goods, or services of the organizational unit. Reports to the Director of Manufacturing and is responsible for department personnel, quality, production and inventory control, etc.
This Position is a First/Second-Line Supervisory.  Highest Level Supervised is First-Line Supervisors / Leads.
Job Type: Full-time
2nd SHIFT: 4:00pm to 12:30am Monday through Friday.
Compensation for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 an hour. 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Supervises staff to produce manufactured products, and organize and monitors workflow.
  • Accomplish manufacturing results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; and initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Complete production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, accomplishing work results, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and reporting results of the processing flow to the Director of Manufacturing
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by training and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Oversees and coaches employees
  • Identifies issues in efficiency and suggests improvements
  • Enforces strict safety guidelines and company standards
  • Ensures production plans are completed in time
  • Communicates with other manufacturing departments
  • Identifies and troubleshoots production issues, escalates issues to the Director of Manufacturing as needed
  • Creates and justifies purchase requisitions for items to support the manufacturing teams.
  • Ability to adhere to ISO 9001/2015 standards 

Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools
  • Demonstrated experience in performance evaluations for employees
  • Prior experience in lean manufacturing
  • Conflict resolution and writing and delivering disciplinary actions
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems 
  • High School Diploma
Regularly performs physically demanding tasks that require lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and moving materials weighing 50 to 100 pounds or more, including lifting items from ground level to waist height and overhead. Must be able to safely handle heavy materials throughout the workday while following established safety procedures.
