Motor Vehicle Clerk
Locations: 850 St. Michaels Dr, Santa Fe NM 87505
Division: Retail
Pay Type: Full-time/ Hourly
Pay Rate: $17 per hour
Schedule Requirement: Monday - Friday 8:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. and Saturday availability between 7:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Job Summary
The Motor Vehicle Clerk helps customers with a variety of motor vehicle transactions while ensuring compliance with State Motor Vehicle Department requirements. This position works closely with customers both in person and over the phone, so strong customer service skills, professionalism, and attention to detail are important.
Responsibilities may include processing driver's licenses, titles, registrations, VIN inspections, notary services, road tests and other motor vehicle transactions. This role may also include conducting road tests and obtaining TSA Agent certification.
We are willing to train the right candidates. Previous experience in customer service, processing, or detail-oriented positions is a plus, including experience such as:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Process motor vehicle transactions in a fast, accurate, and professional manner
  • Assist customers with driver's licenses, titles, registrations, VIN inspections, notary services, and other MVD transactions
  • Conduct road tests as required
  • Obtain, verify, and review identification and required documentation for authenticity and completeness
  • Accurately complete required forms and collect applicable fees
  • Maintain compliance with all MVD policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Safeguard confidential and sensitive customer information
  • Maintain a balanced cash drawer
  • Provide excellent customer service in person and over the phone
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with customers and coworkers
  • Work effectively in a structured, team-oriented environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
  • Valid New Mexico Driver's License (required)
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle record review
  • Availability to work Monday-Saturday between 7:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication in English
  • Accurate and efficient computer skills using Windows-based applications
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work effectively in a structured team environment
  • Willingness and ability to become a TSA Agent
Physical Requirements / Essential Functions
  • Must possess the necessary dexterity and fine motor skills to operate standard office equipment, including a telephone, computer, keyboard, printer, fax machine, and copier
