Vacuum Truck Operator - Aiken, SC
Are you a hands-on operator who takes pride in maintaining precision and safety on the jobsite? Do you enjoy the challenge of technical vacuum operations, working independently, and ensuring underground infrastructure is handled with care? Are you someone who values doing the job right the first time and takes full ownership of your equipment?
If you enjoy operating specialized machinery, troubleshooting field conditions, and supporting critical utility operations across multiple jobsites, we'd like to hear from you. We are seeking a Vacuum Truck Operator with experience supporting heavy civil construction, specifically in hydro-excavation, underground utility locating, and debris removal. This role requires someone who can work independently in the field, execute tasks efficiently, and maintain high safety standards across multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain high-pressure vacuum and hydro-excavation trucks to support underground utility and civil projects.
  • Perform precision digging around sensitive underground utilities using water or air excavation methods.
  • Conduct daily inspections and preventative maintenance on the truck and vacuum systems to minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or hydraulic issues with the vacuum unit in the field.
  • Ensure safe disposal of collected materials in accordance with local regulations and company policy.
  • Maintain accurate logs, including manifests, drive time (ELD), and daily production reports.
  • Communicate effectively with field leadership and utility locators to coordinate daily excavation plans.
  • Maintain a clean and organized service truck, ensuring all hoses, nozzles, and safety gear are in peak condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies, including trenching/shoring and potholing safety standards.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience operating vacuum trucks (hydro-vac or industrial air-vac) within heavy civil or utility construction.
  • Strong knowledge of underground utility infrastructure and safe excavation practices.
  • Technical aptitude for troubleshooting vacuum pumps, blowers, and high-pressure water systems.
  • Must possess a valid Class B CDL (Class A preferred) with Tanker endorsement and a clean driving record.
  • Experience working around heavy equipment such as excavators and dozers is a plus.

Requirements:

  • Valid Driver's License with appropriate commercial endorsements.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen (due to federal project requirements).
  • Must participate in pre-employment and random drug screening.
  • Subject to background screening.
