Job description

Apex Pipe Services is a vacuum truck company specializing in hydro excavation, spill/contamination cleanup, industrial cleaning, underground utilities and infrastructure, debris clean up from pipes and much more. We are seeking a Vac Truck Operator for Lakeland.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor at construction project sites.
  • Assist Vac Truck Operator as needed.
  • Full availability and understanding to work variable hours averaging between 30-70 hours weekly depending on slow and peak seasons.
  • Weekends and extended hours as needed.
  • Assists in preparation, installation, and post installation duties for vacuum/jet truck.
  • Loads and unloads trucks with required material directed by operator.
  • Maintains a clean and secure job site and truck at all times to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident procedures are followed and reports problems to operator or Management.
  • Keep Vac Truck Operator and Management informed of known actions, written or verbal, which may affect the ability to successfully perform tasks at construction project sites or adversely affect Company operations.
  • Work as part of a Vac Truck crew on sewer lines, storm drains, or water mains for the purpose of cleaning pipes and structures.
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct pre-shift vehicle inspection.
  • Performs laborer duties as needed to ensure a timely and quality job and carry out special projects as assigned.
  • This position may require being out of town overnight from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Class B CDL with a Tanker endorsement is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; pipe construction or vac truck experience not required but preferred.
  • Ability to enter, exit and work in confined spaces (manholes, storm drain structures, Pump stations, Etc).
  • Ability to withstand strong chemical odor, under safe exposure conditions.
  • Must be able to wear a standard OSHA approved hard hat and safety vest for the duration of the workday.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, materials, and supplies found in construction work (or willingness to learn).
  • Willingness and ability to perform manual labor. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of applicable safety precautions and procedures.
  • Ability to adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Oral communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management, employees, external vendors and jobsite personnel, and other business associates.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
  • Commitment to attendance as indicated by management and/or project requirements.
