Employment Opportunity - Speech Language Pathologist 

POSITION OPENING:
School Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP / SLPA)

Location: Assigned JDP School(s) by the SPED Supervisor
Status of Employment: 9 month
Salary Schedule: Based on the Jeff Davis Parish School Board Salary Schedule

Job Summary
The Jeff Davis Parish School Board is seeking dedicated individuals to join our growing special education team. The purpose of this job is to enhance each student's level of communicative functioning in order for him/her to fully participate in the school environment, and ensure a free and appropriate public education. Our therapeutic approach nurtures students to develop their academic and social skills to build a foundation for life-long learning.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements: Valid license as a Speech-Language Pathologist or eligible as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA).

  • Current LBESPA Licensure.

  • Preferred Qualifications: Master's-degree SLP-CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence) is highly preferred.

  • Preferred Experience: Demonstrates knowledge of Speech, Language, Pragmatic, and Oral Motor disorders and Therapeutic approaches as well as experience with AAC. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive group and individual speech/language therapy sessions.

  • Developing and implementing student IEPs (Individualized Education Programs) and targeted communication goals.

  • Providing continuous consultation and strategic collaboration with classroom teachers and educational staff.

Special Note for TRSL Retirees
This opening is officially recognized as a critical shortage area by BESE and TRSL. Consequently, it may be filled by a TRSL retired person under the applicable return-to-work provisions.
