Position Overview
At UAFA Elementary, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade experience a project-based, arts-integrated approach to core instruction. Industry partnerships with professionals in entertainment, film, media, and marketing bring real-world relevance into every classroom. We develop the whole child: as an artist, a leader, and a lifelong learner.
The Intermediate Grades Teacher (3rd–5th Grade) is responsible for delivering rigorous, arts-integrated instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE). This educator will build upon students' foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies while embedding creative arts principles and project-based learning throughout the curriculum. The ideal candidate brings both academic expertise and a genuine passion for the arts and is committed to nurturing the whole child in an innovative, community-centered school environment. This position reports to the School Principal and requires on-site presence at the school building.
Arts-Integrated Instruction
  • Design and deliver daily lessons across ELA, math, science, and social studies that are authentically integrated with dramatic, visual, media, or creative arts.
  • Implement project-based learning (PBL) units that challenge students to apply academic content through artistic performance, creation, and expression.
  • Collaborate with arts faculty and artist-practitioners to co-develop cross-disciplinary units and schoolwide productions or exhibitions.
  • Leverage UAFA's industry partnerships to expose students to real-world career pathways in entertainment, media, and marketing.
Curriculum amp; Standards Alignment
  • Plan and deliver instruction aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) in ELA, math, science, and social studies for grades 3–5.
  • Prepare students for the Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades.
  • Integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies and Positive Behavioral Interventions throughout daily practice.
  • Use technology tools to enhance learning, differentiate instruction, and communicate with families.
Assessment amp; Data
  • Administer and analyze formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Use diagnostic data and other benchmarks to differentiate instruction and target student needs.
  • Participate in regular data team meetings and PLCs; adjust pacing and instructional strategies based on student outcome data.
  • Maintain accurate grade books and communicate student progress clearly through report cards, conferences, and school platforms.
Classroom Culture amp; Management
  • Establish a structured, affirming classroom environment that reflects high expectations and UAFA's values of creativity, innovation, and elevation.
  • Implement schoolwide restorative practices with consistency and cultural responsiveness.
  • Foster an inclusive, student-centered community where every scholar feels seen, valued, and inspired.
Family amp; Community Engagement
  • Build authentic relationships with families through regular communication, student-led conferences, and participation in school events.
  • Engage families in understanding arts-integration and the UAFA model through newsletters, curriculum nights, and showcases.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to family inquiries using school-designated communication platforms.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Attend and actively contribute to staff meetings, grade-level PLCs, professional development sessions, and school performances or exhibitions.
  • Comply with all Georgia Department of Education requirements, UAFA charter policies, and applicable federal/state regulations.
  • Implement accommodations and modifications for students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English Learner (EL) support plans in collaboration with specialists.
  • Reflect continuously on practice and embrace a growth mindset as a professional learner.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of SRT4-Certification in Elementary Education (P-5) or Middle Grades Education (All Content Areas); OR
  • Passed the GACE Elementary Education or Middle Grades Education (All Content Areas) assessment AND completion of the GACE Ethics Assessment for Teachers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) for grades 3–5.
Preferred
  • 2+ years of classroom experience in grades 3–5, preferably in an urban, Title I, or arts-focused school setting.
  • Experience with arts integration models, project-based learning (PBL), or STEAM frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) preparation and data-driven instruction.
  • Background or training in drama, visual arts, media arts, music, or another creative discipline.
  • Master's degree or graduate coursework in education or the arts.
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree required with at least a 2.5 GPA
