Job Summary
Sun Tribe EPC ("Sun Tribe") is Virginia's premier utility-scale solar design and build firm, specializing in small to medium size ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) facilities. Our construction efforts are focused throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, Maryland, and neighboring states. At Sun Tribe, we build with purpose-prioritizing safety, quality, and environmental stewardship in every project we deliver.
The Project Manager is responsible for coordinating and directing all aspects of project execution, managing schedules and resources, and controlling risks and changes. The Project Manager establishes and maintains professional working relationships with project stakeholders, including subcontractors, vendors, clients, consultants, regulatory agencies, host facilities, and personnel from complementary Departments within the Company. The Project Manager role may oversee more than one project concurrently. This role includes responsibility for projects of increasing size and complexity based on experience and level, ranging from small-scale to large or highly complex projects.
This position reports directly to the Senior Vice President, Project Management Office and works closely with project managers, construction teams, subcontractors, and other internal stakeholders. This position supports projects primarily located throughout Virginia and neighboring states, with an expectation of periodic travel to project sites.Principal Responsibilities
  • Leads delivery of assigned solar construction projects across all phases, from preconstruction through closeout
  • Manages project performance, including schedule, budget, risk, and overall outcomes, with increasing ownership based on experience and level
  • Develops and manages project execution plans, schedules, and resource strategies aligned with contractual requirements
  • Coordinates and manages subcontractors, vendors, and consultants to support successful project execution
  • Supports or leads permitting efforts and ensures compliance with local, state, and federal requirements
  • Tracks project performance against plan, identifies variances, and supports or leads corrective actions based on level
  • Manages project financials, including cost tracking, forecasting, invoicing coordination, subcontractor pay applications, and change order administration based on level of responsibility
  • Supports or leads change management processes, including identification of risks, development of mitigation strategies, and negotiation of change orders
  • Coordinates interconnection, commissioning, and project closeout activities
  • Leads or supports internal and external project meetings and reporting, ensuring clear communication across stakeholders
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients
  • Provides functional leadership to Assistant Project Managers and may mentor junior team members
Basic Qualifications Required
  • Education required: High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction or project management, or related field
  • Current, valid driver's license and eligibility for corporate vehicle insurance coverage
Skills & Experience Preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
  • Procore certification(s) preferred
  • Experience managing projects of increasing size and complexity in construction or solar EPC environments
  • Proficiency in Procore, MS Project, or similar construction management and scheduling tools
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across diverse stakeholder groups
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement and team collaboration

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • Some evening and/or weekend work may be required
  • Willingness to travel to project sites throughout Virginia and neighboring states as needed, typically no less than once per month depending on project assignment(s)
  • Must be able to traverse and inspect all areas of jobsite in all types of weather; this may include walking, climbing, reaching, bending, crawling, or stretching
  • Exposure to characteristic construction site hazards
  • Wearing of standard personal protective equipment while on project sites
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this position will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity.
