Job description

Senior Associate, Product Management - Document Intelligence & Ontology
Product Management at Capital One is a booming, vibrant craft that requires reimagining the status quo, finding value creation opportunities, and driving innovative and sustainable customer experiences through technology. We believe our portfolio of businesses and investments in growth and transformation will result in a company with the scale, brand, capabilities, talent, and values to succeed as the digital revolution transforms our society and our industry.
The Opportunity
Documents are the backbone of how a commercial bank runs-they are the source of truth for every process, from origination and underwriting to servicing and client management. At Capital One, we are reimagining this backbone. We are moving away from fragmented storage toward a centralized, AI-driven document ecosystem that allows associates and clients to search, synthesize, and even "chat" with their documents.
We are looking for a Sr Associate, Product Manager to lead our Document Hub. You will be the architect of our document strategy, guiding the evolution from our legacy document ecosystem to a modernized, graph-based foundation. If you are passionate about data architecture, user-centric AI, and transforming complex technical challenges into seamless customer experiences, this role is for you.
Your Mission
You will lead the end-to-end vision for our Document Intelligence platform. This is not just about storing files; it is about building a Trusted Workflow Advisor that empowers our teams to make faster, data-informed decisions. You will work at the intersection of product, data science, and engineering to define how we classify, tag, and organize millions of documents into a semantic, knowledge graph.
What You'll Do
  • Architect the Future of Taxonomy: Lead the strategic design of our document taxonomy and ontology. Drive the migration from legacy systems to a robust, graph-based architecture that creates durable, auditable chains of evidence across the client lifecycle.
  • Build the Chat with Documents Experience: Collaborate with engineering and ML teams to deliver products that enable users to extract, summarize, and interact with complex documents. Turn the document repository into a dynamic, intelligent engine.
  • Bridge the Ecosystem: Work across a vast cross-functional landscape. You will partner with stakeholders in Sales, Operations, Underwriting, and Treasury Management to ensure our document intelligence tools meet the unique needs of every line of business.
  • Drive Product Delivery: Own the product roadmap for our document hub, from the Intelligent Doc Assist Chrome plugin to advanced automated extraction capabilities. Prioritize the backlog, refine user stories, and ensure iterative, high-impact delivery every quarter.
  • Champion Data Strategy: Influence the bank's broader graph strategy. You won't just build a storage layer; you will define how documents link to business entities, products, and events, ensuring our data is standardized, compliant, and discoverable.

Why This Matters
Today, associates often struggle with fragmented manual uploads and inconsistent tagging. You will lead the effort to replace friction with flow-enabling one-click uploads, ML-driven auto-classification, and high-precision extraction. Your work will directly reduce operational risk, shorten loan workflow times, and enable a market-leading digital experience.
What You'll Bring
  • The "Why" Behind the Tech: A passion for information architecture, ontology, and the "graph" mindset. You understand that organized data is the prerequisite for effective AI.
  • Technical Fluency: You can speak the language of engineering and data science. You have experience navigating complex product lifecycles and understand what it takes to build scalable, resilient platforms.
  • Human-Centered Design: You obsess over the user. Whether it's an associate processing a loan or a client reviewing deal terms, you design solutions that remove friction and add tangible value.
  • Influence & Leadership: You can navigate a complex, large-scale organization. You are comfortable challenging the status quo, building consensus among disparate stakeholders, and leading through influence rather than just authority.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of product management experience or at least 1 year of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
  • 1+ years translating business strategy or analysis into consumer facing digital products
  • 1+ years of experience working on core product platforms powering digital experiences
  • 1+ years working with cross functional teams as a product owner in an agile development process
