Job description


This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Project Controls Manager to join their Project Controls team supporting Power & Energy programs, including transmission and substation capital projects. This individual can sit in our WSP locations in either South Jordan, UT or Las Vegas, NV.
Your Impact
  • Provide oversight of finance, schedule, and document controls across transmission, substation, and related power delivery programs, leading a multidisciplinary team of cost analysts, schedulers, risk managers, and document control specialists.
  • Create and maintain program/project schedules; review, monitor, and control contractor and consultant schedules, identifying cost and scheduling issues and recommending resolutions to the Program Manager.
  • Develop and implement project controls processes, including change management, cost/schedule standardization, and reporting across enterprise initiatives.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, cash flows, financial models, and other financial projections; oversee project accounting and earned value management (EVM) practices.
  • Develop advanced Power BI dashboards and analytics tools to provide leadership and clients with actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Administer a Cost Management System (e.g., e-Builder, Procore, or similar PMIS); track acquisition packages for reimbursement and oversee invoice review and processing.
  • Develop regular progress reports for the Program Manager and PMO, and demonstrate professional acumen in executive-level settings, including memos, briefings, and client deliverables.
  • Provide oversight of vendor selection, contractor progress, change orders, punch list completion, and project close-out; collaborate in contract review and negotiation for regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with client Finance & Budget, Treasury, and Internal Audit functions, and support renewable energy/utility compliance efforts (RFPs, proposal evaluation, regulatory filings).
  • Supervise and develop project controls staff, improving reporting accuracy and system utilization across Oracle, Primavera P6, Procore, and related platforms.

Who You Are
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 12+ years of experience in financial controls, finance/accounting, and scheduling on large-scale capital projects, including experience leading a team of professionals.
  • Power & Energy industry experience preferred, particularly transmission and substation construction programs.
  • Project management experience required; PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of earned value management (EVM), cost forecasting, and schedule management best practices.
  • Reporting & BI Tools: Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Adobe Design and Publisher a plus.
  • PMIS/Scheduling: Experience with PMIS platforms such as e-Builder, Oracle EBS, Maximo, PowerPlant, Primavera P6, Procore, or Autodesk Construction Cloud, and Microsoft Project or similar scheduling software.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, including cost analysts, schedulers, risk managers, and document control specialists.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams, contractors, and clients, and present clearly to executive stakeholders.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $185,000-227,000/yr
