Barrick Gold of North America is looking for a Manager of Treasury and Insurance to join the Treasury team. Reporting to the Treasurer, the Manager will be responsible for a wide spectrum of insurance, finance and treasury activities and be a valued member of a small Treasury team.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead the day-to-day insurance activities of the company, including dealing with third party service providers and insurance companies.
  • Lead the submission and management of insurance claims as appropriate, including working with sites and external parties.
  • Manage the negotiation of insurance policy renewals.
  • Lead the management of any captive insurance programs run by the company.
  • Assist the Treasury team with the day-to-day physical gold and silver movement process
  • Prepare Treasury-related wires, cash management plans and reports for approval and execution.
  • Invest Barrick's excess cash with our bank counterparties.
  • Assist our banking partners and refineries with their internal compliance and KYC activities related to all Barrick entities when they arise.
  • Maintain strong relationships with our key banking partners and other key external counterparties.
  • Book trades and running daily/weekly/monthly reports in SAP Treasury.
  • Assist with quarterly Treasury internal controls.
  • Ensure adherence with the compliance activities of the Treasury department.
  • Continuous monitor of counterparty credit risk exposures.
  • Monitor and report on developments in metals, currency, energy and interest rate markets, and on general economic and financial market trends.
  • Review external financial statements (and similar reports) prior to issuance to ensure accuracy of treasury-related items.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations to senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare Treasury-related reports on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Act as a liaison with Accounting, Tax, Legal and other departments.
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations to senior management and external stakeholders
  • Assist with capital market transactions as required (liability management, share repurchases, credit facility, etc.)
  • Other special projects and duties as required.

Qualifications/Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Commerce, or related field required
  • 4 to 8 years of related work experience required
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy required
  • Working knowledge of Bloomberg SAP Treasury an asset preferred
  • Experience in dealing with corporate insurance policies preferred
  • General knowledge of, and interest in, financial markets, derivative instruments, and accounting procedures preferred
  • Professional designation (CPA or CFA) or progress towards one preferred
  • Proven attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, time management, Excel literacy and office management skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently
  • Demonstrated well-developed interpersonal skills, with a courteous and pleasant customer service focus
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Capability to multi-task, self-manage and self-motivate
