Join Mercantile Bank as the Treasury Support Assistant Manager and play a key leadership role in delivering exceptional service to our business customers. In this position, you will support the Treasury Support Manager in leading a high performing team that serves as the frontline technical and operational support for treasury products and online banking solutions.
This role is ideal for a customer-focused leader who enjoys coaching others, improving processes, and staying closely connected to both customers and team members. You will balance hands on customer support with supervisory responsibilities, ensuring operational excellence, consistent service delivery, and adherence to bank policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
  1. Support the Treasury Support Manager in overseeing daily operations, supervising Treasury Support Specialists, and ensuring consistent, high quality customer service across all support channels
  2. Provide hands on customer support while leading by example, managing escalated inquiries, and maintaining deep knowledge of Mercantile Bank's treasury products and services
  3. Assist with staff development through coaching, training, performance support, and onboarding, while helping create and maintain procedures, job aids, and departmental documentation
  4. Attend and facilitate in person customer appointments as needed to support client needs and enhance the overall customer experience

What We're Looking For
To be successful as a Treasury Support Assistant Manager, candidates should combine strong treasury or banking knowledge with a collaborative, service oriented leadership approach. This role requires the ability to support business customers directly while also guiding and developing Treasury Support staff. An ideal candidate is comfortable navigating multiple treasury systems, clearly communicating complex information, and helping drive consistency, efficiency, and service excellence across the team.
Previous experience supporting online banking or treasury products is important, as is the ability to coach others, assist with process improvements, and handle more complex or escalated customer situations. While prior people leadership experience is preferred, candidates who have served as informal team leads or mentors and are ready to take the next step are encouraged to apply.
Requirements:
  • An associate's degree OR equivalent job-related experience
  • Three or more years of Banking and/or Treasury Management experience required, with demonstrated knowledge of treasury products and online banking platforms
  • Ability to work in an office environment and answer calls/respond to emails M-F 8:30am-5:30pm
  • Strong customer service background with experience handling complex or escalated customer interactions
  • High aptitude for technology, including comfort learning new systems and supporting customers across devices such as iPhone, iPad, Android phone, and Android tablet
  • Professional demeanor with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
  • Leadership, supervisory, or mentoring experience preferred, with the ability to coach and support team performance
