Our Athletic Training staff plays a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of more than 20 varsity athletic programs. We are seeking a dependable and service-oriented professional to help ensure our athletic training operations run efficiently while providing exceptional support to our student-athletes and coaches.
What We're Looking For
Ferrum College is seeking a highly organized, motivated, and team-oriented Athletic Training Operations Manager (ATOM) to support the daily operations of the Athletic Training Department.
Working closely with the Head Athletic Trainer and athletic training staff, the ATOM will assist with athletic training room operations, facility organization, inventory management, scheduling, communication, and practice and game-day support. This position does not require athletic training education or certification and does not provide medical treatment beyond the scope of a current First Aid/Emergency Cardiac Care certification.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with the daily operations of the athletic training facilities serving Ferrum College's varsity athletic programs.
  • Maintain athletic training rooms through organization, sanitization, equipment setup, and daily cleaning.
  • Prepare water, supplies, and equipment for practices and competitions.
  • Coordinate communication between coaches, student-athletes, and athletic training staff regarding schedules and appointment availability.
  • Assist with scheduling athletic training appointments.
  • Provide First Aid care during practices and competitions under the supervision of a Certified Athletic Trainer.
  • Assist with inventory management and supply organization.
  • Support practice, competition, and travel operations as assigned.
  • Assist with administrative projects and departmental operations.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
  • Current First Aid and Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) certification.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional team travel.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in athletics, sports medicine, recreation, or higher education.
  • Experience with inventory management, scheduling, or operations support.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
