What is a traveling meter?

A Traveling Meter is typically a portable device used to measure utilities such as water, gas, or electricity at multiple locations. Individuals known as traveling meter readers use these devices to collect readings from customers’ meters, often traveling between different properties or sites. The term can sometimes refer to meters designed specifically for mobility, supporting utility companies in areas where fixed meters aren't feasible.
