Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position on 12-hour night shifts, requiring an active WA or compact RN license and at least 2 years of ED experience.

Details
  • Level 3 Trauma Center community hospital located in Spokane Valley, WA
  • ED includes 21 beds, 8 hallway beds, 5 fast-track beds, and 4-12 outpatient overflow beds
  • Patient population includes geriatric, abdominal pain, chest pain, stroke, psychiatric, and respiratory cases with 15% pediatric patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, organized in pods of 8 patients per 3 nurses
  • Uses Epic EMR (required), Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing system
  • Telemetry monitoring available at bedside and nurse's station
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • No floating required
  • 6-week schedule cycle
Requirements
  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, and CPI or MOAB certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of ED experience required, 5 years preferred
  • Experience with TNK administration, conscious sedation, chest tubes, and central lines
  • Epic EMR experience required
Additional Information
  • ED techs are phlebotomy certified and available for peripheral sticks; 3 techs on days, 3 on nights, and 1 on 1:1 care
  • 24/7 support from receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, respiratory therapy, and hospitalist staff
  • Department and critical care float nurses available as needed, though no dedicated resource nurse
  • IV/VAT team available Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm; many ED nurses trained in ultrasound-guided IV placement
  • One week orientation including NEO, Epic training, skills and site check-offs, and 2-3 precepted shifts
  • MHS Tele Test required prior to arrival
  • One holiday coverage expected per contract
  • RTO requests approved for up to 7 days
  • Scrubs may be any professional color
  • Free parking available on-site
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
