Monitor Technician

A Telemetry Monitor Tech who excels in this role:

  • Provides continuous cardiac and telemetry monitoring under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Monitors cardiac rhythms and promptly recognizes, documents, and reports abnormal heart rhythms or changes in patient condition to the nursing team.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, intake and output, and other patient care activities as assigned.
  • Assists patients with activities of daily living including ambulation, toileting, grooming, and basic comfort measures when needed.
  • Maintains accurate telemetry records and ensures monitoring equipment is functioning properly at all times.
  • Communicates effectively with nurses, physicians, and ancillary departments regarding rhythm changes, alarms, and patient status updates.
  • Supports unit operations by managing monitor station responsibilities, answering phones, processing orders, and assisting with overall department workflow.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment in accordance with hospital policies and infection prevention standards.
  • Documents patient care activities and monitor observations in compliance with hospital and departmental standards.
  • Participates in required education, competency validations, annual training, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned to support patient care and departmental operations.

What we're looking for:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in a physician office, clinic, or hospital setting preferred.

Certifications:

  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Handle with Care certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

  • Six-bed Telemetry unit
  • Step-Down unit aligned with Telemetry unit.
